President David Martin called in meeting at 9:18 AM.
Roll call: President David Martin, Secretary Jerry Grigsby, Treasurer Richard Bonheyo, Board Jaime Jackerson, Board Michelle Hughes, Membership Director Judy Ford, Trustee Elizabeth Grigsby.
Absent: Board LeRoy Boren Jr, Board Brenda Call, Event Director Tom Murillo, Trustee Buddy Singleton, and Trustee Stan Smith.
Members: Jim Brune and Clark Brooke.

Minutes: Jaime Jackerson moved that January 2009 Minutes be approved as corrected.
President David Martin’s Report:
He said SFCD retreat was very good. He informed us that SFCD’s website has a new face. He wanted to say thanks to board for being a great team.
Vice President VACANT Report:
No Report.
Secretary Jerry Grigsby’s Report:
No Report
Treasurer Richard Bonheyo’s Report:
He informed us that we overspent by $4,000.00 last year’s budget. Finance report submitted by him matches Merrill Lynch’s report. He submitted Year Budget and board approved. He submitted monthly report – December 2008, January 2009, and February 2009. Board approved. Board agrees that the finance report can show two columns – Expenses and Donation/Sponsorship to make things easier to read. Board agreed that Treasurer will present Merrill Lynch report two times a year.
Trustee’s Report:

Membership Director Judy Ford’s Report:
We now have 299 members. 70 of the existing members have not renewed. And we gained 24 new members. She will redo the membership form due to avoid confusion. Some thought $5.00 is for family when it should be $5.00 per each member.
Board Jaime Jackerson’s Report:
He said he enjoyed the Luncheon event.
Board Michelle Hughes’s Report:
She was the head committee for luncheon that was hosted on March 7. She informed us 102 attended the event and it was very, very successful.
Board Brenda Call’s Report:

Event Director Tom Murillo’s Report:

Member Clark Brooke’s Report:
He is encouraging several Deaf clubs in Bay Area to participate in a large meeting. Purpose of meeting is to encourage many Deaf to come to our events and get together. He will ask each Deaf club to send one representative. The meeting date and time will be announced soon. During the meeting, they will serve snacks and drinks. When meeting is done and ready to host a part, they will send out an announcement. He hopes to get sponsorship to help promote the party. Main purpose of the party is to reminiscing the old days of huge crowd at a Deaf event. He hopes to put on a play, etc. Free admission and maybe charge food and drinks.
Ad Hoc Committee:
By-laws – Chaired by Jerry Grigsby. Committee – David Martin and Buddy Singleton. No proposal that affects bylaw was submitted. No action taken.
DCARA New DCC – Put on back burner until DCARA decides which direction they will take.

SFCD Sponsored Organizations’ Report:
CalBASS: No Report
SFCD Stingers (Women’s Softball Team): Not Present.
CSDF - Middle School Football – Bengals: Not Present.
SFCD to host Pacific Coast Deaf Bowling Association/Pacific Coast Women’s Bowling Association’s Bowling Tournament in May of 2009: Dave said we are working with committee to ensure all are ready for the big tournament weekend. He asked Randy Swenson, Treasurer for the event, to provide information but he received no answer. He showed trophy that will be hand made for the tournament champions. He is in process of sending out mail requesting donations, trophy donations, advertisement for program book, etc. One of the idea is to ask past organizations that SFCD have sponsored to donate toward the tournament event.
Northern California Deaf Campers: Michelle Hughes and Judy Ford worked on the Bocce Tournament flyer and it is ready to go. Jaime Jackerson is happy to run the tournament again.
DCARA: Jim Brune submitted a proposal requesting $5,000.00 to support the following events:
DCARA Community Night, Oktoberfest, and Thanksgiving. Proposal was re-evaluated and approved by board.
PAC CSDF Middle School: Clark Brooke – He will have several students to come and help with running the Bocce event.

1. Jim Brune/David Martin: Moved that SFCD pay $45.00 per hour DCC room rental fee. TABLED – task force Richard Bonheyo, Jerry Grigsby and Michelle Hughes will work with Jim Brune and Katie Canfield to discuss ROI.
2. Sacramento Valley Angling and Camping Club of the Deaf – Moved that we allow the organization to put SFCD logo on their fishing tournament shirts. PASSED
New Sponsor/Donation Request:
1. Cal Bass – LeRoy Boren, Jr. Asked for a matching fund of $1,400.00 to host the following events: Coloma Camping with NCDC, Deep Sea Fishing, and Clamming at Dillon Beach. PASSED
2. California School for the Deaf – Fremont – Barbara Morrison. Asked SFCD to donate any amount towards CSD 150th Anniversary. FAILED – Due to not using SFCD sponsorship form.
3. ASL Festival in San Francisco – Miro Kielbus – Asked SFCD to rent a booth during the festival – FAILED – Due to not using SFCD Sponsorship form.

Announcement:
Elizabeth Grigsby announced that Silicon Valley Club of the Deaf will host a No-Tap Bowling Tournament and Poker Tournament on April 11 at Dublin Bowl in Dublin.
