President David Martin called in meeting at 9:25 AM.

Minutes: Jaime Jackerson moved that January 2009 Minutes be approved as read.
President David Martin’s Report:
He said our updated website looks great. He hopes to improve exposure of our website. He would like to see if we can add history page to the website. He encouraged all to submit photos and/or memories of the club past. We will need to contact Ken Norton and Benny Jason for help in history of the club. Member Stan Smith said we have old boxes and history stored in DCC house. He reminded us that we need to watch our budget for rest of the year and still be able to serve members’ requests and needs. He asks that members come and join the fun at the upcoming bowling tournament during the Memorial Weekend. He introduced new Board Member, LeRoy Boren, Jr. He informed us that LeRoy is our Webmaster and he will teach the board how to use Joomla language to help support our website. He encouraged members to please submit requests for event/activities that they want SFCD to present.
Vice President VACANT Report:

Secretary Jerry Grigsby’s Report:
I am glad to see a good number of members at the meeting. I informed that I contacted Winchester Mystery House and got information. I will work with the board to find a good date, etc. We have several tickets for sale today. Bowling fan combo is $45, Northern California Deaf Film Festival is $20 for single, $30 for couple, and Bocce is $25.00 for the tournament or $10 for social. Please buy some tickets today!
Treasurer Richard Bonheyo’s Report:
He went over finance report. See attach for finance report. He said we only have $6,000.00 to spend for sponsor/donation. One of Luncheon Event personal check bounced $60.00. He said Board Michelle Hughes tried to contact the person responsible for bounced check to no avail. Our Merrill Lynch is doing okay. Jerry Grigsby moved that Treasurer’s finance report be accepted. Pass

Membership Director Judy Ford’s Report:
She removed many expired members. We now have 242 members.

Event Director Tom Murillo’s Report:
He said few requests for Sponsorship/Requests were submitted; 150 CSD anniversary, men’s softball team, women’s softball team, CSDF Bengals. He reminded us to please read guideline/rules. He asks us that we do not want to bend rules. He also reminded us July is the month to submit new proposals.
Ad Hoc Committee:
By-laws – Chaired by Jerry Grigsby. Committee – David Martin and Buddy Singleton. No proposal that affects bylaw was submitted. No action taken.
DCARA New DCC – Put on back burner until DCARA decides which direction they will take.
Website – No report.
SFCD Sponsored Organizations’ Report:
CalBASS: LeRoy Boren, Jr. announced that CalBASS will host 3 events this summer and to check out CalBASS website for more information.
SFCD Stingers (Women’s Softball Team): Rima Cornish asked that SFCD continue to sponsor the team. Board expressed disappointment in team’s lack of attending SFCD’s meeting and events. Board also expressed disappointment that 4 girls from the team played for another team instead of representing our team last summer.
CSDF - Middle School Football – Bengals: Not Present.
SFCD to host Pacific Coast Deaf Bowling Association/Pacific Coast Women’s Bowling Association’s Bowling Tournament in May of 2009: Dave said we are ready for the event. He wished for a higher turnout but will still put on a great weekend for all.
Northern California Deaf Campers: Michelle Hughes and Judy Ford rescheduled the event to June 13 due to raining weather.
DCARA: No Report Given but Board informed all that we had a meeting with DCARA CEO, Jim Brune, and Katie Canfield to discuss DCC rental rate. It was agreed that SFCD will pay $1,000.00 for DCC rent. In return we will get 4 tickets to Oktoberfest, a link in DCARA website, picnic with DCARA this summer, and advertisement in DCARA newsletter.
PAC CSDF Middle School: Students from PAC came to the meeting and gave presentation showing what they have done so far with our seed money. Members responded that we are very proud of the PAC group.
Standing Business:
1. California School for the Deaf – Fremont – Barbara Morrison. Asked SFCD to donate any amount towards CSD 150th Anniversary. Sponsorship was submitted and we agreed to table the proposal to July’s meeting.

New Business:
1. Milt Peters/Judy Ford – Moved that SFCD encourage 4 Fishing/Camp clubs to be affiliate with SFCD to reduce number of clubs. TABLED and referred to Bylaw committee for review.
2. Jerry Grigsby/Judy Ford – Moved that we accept Sacramento as part of our territory. TABLED and referred to Bylaw committee for review.
3. Mark Wood/Karina Pedersen – Moved that SFCD sponsor ASL Films by donating money and providing support by catering dinner for one weekend. Event Director Tom Murillo Amended to donate $1,000.00. Seconded by Board Jackerson. Secretary Grigsby protested the proposal for not following SFCD’s guideline rules. Trustee Singleton said General Members have the right to overrule board. Secretary Grigsby again protests that General Members do not have the right to override Board. After long discussion, Secretary Grigsby’s protest was overruled and the proposal PASSED.
4. Jacy Dike (via Jeanne Dike)/Cathy Boren – Moved that SFCD donate any donation to help Jacy to achieve a goal of going to the Deaf Olympics – Snowboarding. PASSED agreed to pay airfare to Denver.

Announcement:
Mark Wood liked to thank members for sponsor and is very happy to join the club.
Brenda Call (NCDFF) – asks that we do not forget to buy tickets for the film festival weekend - $20.00 per person or $30.00 per couple.
Rima Cornish (Stingers) – will host a fundraising event in Sacramento, car wash, and will host a poker tournament and raffle prizes. The team will compete in NWSAD and NSAD this year.
